High-voltage switchgear is the common term for metal-enclosed switchgear. It is a complete set of power distribution equipment in which various electrical devices are assembled within an enclosed metal housing according to a specific circuit configuration. High-voltage switchgear is widely used in power distribution systems for receiving and distributing electrical energy. It can not only connect or disconnect certain electrical equipment or circuits according to grid operation requirements, but also rapidly isolate faulty sections from the power grid when faults occur, thereby ensuring the normal operation of unaffected parts of the network and safeguarding both equipment and maintenance personnel.

High-voltage switchgear can be classified in several ways. Based on structural design, it can be divided into armored switchgear, compartmentalized switchgear, and box-type switchgear. According to the placement of circuit breakers, it can be categorized into floor-mounted switchgear and withdrawable (middle-mounted) switchgear. Based on insulation type, it can be classified into air-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear and SF₆ gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear (GIS or gas-filled switchgear).

As a key power distribution device in electrical systems, high-voltage switchgear is widely used in AC distribution networks ranging from 3.6 kV to 40.5 kV. Thanks to its compact footprint, ease of installation, operational safety, and high reliability, it plays an indispensable role in power transmission and distribution systems.

In recent years, with the continuous development of China's power industry and the steady advancement of power grid construction, the market size of the high-voltage switchgear industry has expanded significantly.
